Missouri Bar gears up for Mini Law School in Cape Girardeau

This fall, Cape Girardeau-area residents will have a unique opportunity to learn more about the laws that affect their lives. Sept. 26 marks the start of Mini Law School for the Public in Cape Girardeau, a five-week lecture series hosted by The Missouri Bar that features in-depth presentations from area legal experts.

This year’s series will include an introduction to the court system and criminal law, as well discussions on personal injury and workers’ compensation; estate planning and real estate; family law and guardianship; and business law and consumer protection. Speakers will include several local lawyers, plus Hon. Abbie Crites-Leoni, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri.

Lectures will take place at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center, 1080 S. Silver Springs Rd., from 7 to 9 p.m. each Tuesday, beginning Sept. 26 and ending Oct. 24. A $25 registration fee covers all five classes, course materials and light refreshments.

As with all Mini Law School programming, there are no tests and no homework—just an opportunity to learn in a relaxed environment and walk away with valuable knowledge that will help you better understand the laws that impact our daily lives and better appreciate our legal system.

Registration is available online or by calling 866-366-0270. See the full course schedule at
